AFSI - The Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association was initiated in October 2017 or Muharram / Safar 1439 in Jakarta. Standing as a congregation of startups, institutions, academics, communities and sharia experts engaged in technology-based Islamic financial services. AFSI has been recognized and ratified as a legal entity, through the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number AHU-0001911.AH.01.07 of 2018 dated 14 February 2018

This association was initiated in October 2017 by the Tazkia Sharia Fintech Study Center and 8 Sharia Fintech Startups in Jakarta. This association was formed with the spirit of congregation in uniting the potential strength of Islamic fintech in Indonesia in providing usury-free alternative financial services. This association was also formed with the aim of advocating for Sharia fintech startups in expressing aspirations to regulators in order to support the development of the Sharia fintech business. After consolidating with various sharia fintech actors and continuing to expand its reach to various regions, on February 8, 2018 the Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI) was officially established at the AFSI Secretariat at the 10th Floor MTH Tower, Jl. MT Haryono Kav. 23, Tebet Timur, South Jakarta.
